Nancy LaVarnway has been providing career development services to individuals, organizations, and educational institutions as a practitioner, consultant, and life-long supporter of experiential education for nearly three decades.  Nancy brings tremendous skill, knowledge, and unparalleled business savvy to her work with individual and organizational clients as a consultant with Stowell and Associates.

She is experienced in all aspects of career development and experiential education in the public and private sectors including eighteen years in higher education, seven years in technical education and twenty-two in public (secondary) education. In addition to her work with Stowell and Associates, Nancy serves as Director of the Career Development Center at one of Vermont’s largest high schools where she designs and implements programs providing educational experiences in both pre-professional (school-to-work) and community (Volunteers In Action) settings.  In 2013, she was also appointed to serve as a Commissioner with the Vermont Commission on Women.  The Commission serves as an advisor to the legislative and executive branches of state government on issues impacting women throughout the state.

For more than 20 years, Nancy has also been involved with the New England Association for Cooperative Education and Field Experience; serving as the Vermont State Director.  For her work, she was awarded an Honorary Life Membership for her outstanding leadership contribution to the organization.

Nancy earned her Master’s Degree from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont and a Bachelor’s Degree from Westfield State University in Massachusetts.   She is a licensed educator; holding three educational endorsements in Cooperative Career and Technical Education (7-12), Social Science (7-12), Physical Education (K-12) and a HQT (Highly Qualified Teacher) status in Social Studies.
